Hi Ladies (& Gentleman),
We are moving ahead with the re-launch of the Douglas County Women’s Club.
We will have our kick-off meeting Thursday, February 20, 2020 (2-20-20) at 6:00 pm at the Olive Garden Restaurant on Douglas Boulevard. We’ve invited Kim Sherk, the President of the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, to come and speak to us about the state-wide organization (including a Red Coat Day at the Capital the following week on Friday, February 28, 2020) and Noelle Kahaian, the Director of Protect Student Health Georgia to update us on the sex education materials being taught in our schools and our rights and opportunities to be involved in the text book decision making process. I’ve also learned that some teachers neglect to begin the day with The Pledge of Allegiance and many project CNN into their classrooms. We MUST get engaged to protect our children. Finally, I’ve invited Micah Gravely to join us and plan to meet with him this week to follow-up on whether it will be possible with his schedule. He would speak to us about issues currently in the state capital and how they impact those of us in Douglas County.
We’ve found the original club charter details and I’ve re-registered the website at dcrwc.org. We’ve identified 2 of our required 4 officers and would hope for additional volunteers at the meeting. You don’t need to be a resident of Douglas County to be a member of the club and you may be a member of more than one RWC.
The membership dues will be $37 including $20 dues to the National Federation of Republican Women, $7 dues to the Georgia Federation of Republican Women and $10 to the club. One of my neighbors who will be joining the club did fundraising for her granddaughter’s middle school and has a list of ideas for us to raise money to cover the expenses of the relaunch (including the $78 I spent on the website and the annual $15 fee to the NFRW). My IT guy will be setting up e-mail addresses for the president, vp, treasurer and secretary @dcrwc.org. I have a website intern who will very likely be available to build our site for a very reasonable $500.
In addition to the ladies I’ve already been in contact with, we have obtained the last known membership list of the club and have included them in this distribution. Please feel free to invite anyone you know (men included) who might be interested in attending.
I made the reservation at Olive Garden for 10-20 and will need to let the GM know our final numbers so please RSVP to me your intention to attend. It will be an individual decision to buy dinner or not at the meeting.
We’re very excited about bringing some Republican Women energy back to Douglas County, and look forward to seeing everybody and meeting those we don’t already know.
